Crushing on Velvet and Fawning over Fur

When it comes to winter style, it seems like the first pieces to pop in our minds are boots and sweaters, am I right? And while those are definitely great winter wardrobe staples, there are so many other ways to spice up our cold-weather style.... and two of my absolute faves are velvet and fur (and the combo of the two)!

I know I’ve mentioned velvet previously in both a fall trends blog post and on my IG page, but I am a little obsessed with it in all it’s forms at the moment....boots, tops, dresses, jackets.... you name it, I cant get enough. So I decided to design both a dress and a top in this cold-shoulder ruffle style for my line and I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out! And I’m especially loving how versatile this top is....you can dress it up or down like I did here, pairing it with both high-waisted casual denim and a leather choker or with black denim and a great faux fur jacket. And of course, there are always sequins, skirts, wide-leg trousers and lots of other options for getting even more dressy for those holiday parties.

And then there’s the fur! I’m all about both more traditional neutral shades as well as colored fur, which is a great trend this season. I ordered this cropped faux fur jacket from Zara (I’ve linked it here: http://www.zara.com/us/en/woman/outerwear/view-all/short-faux-fur-coat-c733882p3647871.html) and I’m loving the super pale pink color. It’s neutral enough to go with almost everything but is still really on trend with the blush shade (they call it “Dusty Pink” on Zara’s site). And I especially love it paired with this burgundy velvet, but it will also go so well with this same p&p velvet top in both black and steel gray (which are coming soon to Shea for those of you in Denver....and you can message me if you need one in your life).

I’ve also linked some other faux fur jackets that I’m loving on right now:

And of course, there are lots of great velvet top options too, but I’d be lying if I said I didn’t want you to buy mine:)

But the bottom line is that velvet and fur really do make the perfect pair....they go together like pb&j, wine & cheese, a cozy fire and hot chocolate....If you ask me, they are just meant to be and I’m pretty sure this isn’t the last time you’ll see this pairing from me (already brainstorming other outfits!).

Are you a fan of the velvet/fur combo? What other winter style pairings are you into? Would love to hear!

XO,

Allison
