Day to Night Dressing

Back in the day, I practically had two separate wardrobes: one for casual day dressing and one for those nights out on the town. And they were, literally, like night and day. But as I get older (and in a lot of ways lazier), I just want things to be easy, comfortable, get the picture. So instead of sporting distressed jeans and a tee during the day and then changing into a fitted black dress and heels for a night out, I often just stick with the same jeans and tee, throw on a couple layered necklaces, a leather jacket and some hot little high-heeled numbers and off I go! It's all about the day-to night dressing now....mostly because it's just a whole heck of a lot easier.

Another case in point: This sassy ruffled cold-shoulder top from Shein (to say I adore it would be an understatement!). Not only is it super cute and a little sexy with the layered ruffle design, low back and bare shoulders, it's actually so comfy too (and anyone who knows me knows that comfort is at the top of my must-have list). Plus it moves beautifully and can go from day to night in the blink of an eye with just the switch of a shoe and handbag (I changed my jeans too, but honestly that's not even necessary). PLUS, its only $22 which is an absolute steal!

So for my day look, I paired this top with my go-to ripped AG jeans, Freyrs mirrored sunnies and these cute Nine West laser-cut red suede flats that I found at Nordstrom Rack. I love how even a statement top like this can be dressed down to create a casual day look, perfect for a coffee date, running to the mall or picking up the kids from school.

Then for a more dramatic evening look, I chose to pair this cold-shoulder beauty with black legging-style jeans (jeggings if you will), a studded clutch and these amazing multi strap heels that were yet another awesome Nordstrom Rack find! (Yes, in case you were wondering, I do find 90% of my shoes at the Rack.) Unfortunately, these black strappy Mary Janes are sold out, but I've linked the exact same shoes in taupe here. The heels, black pants and clutch really take the look up a notch if you ask me, making it the perfect ensemble for a girls' night or date night. (And on a side note, this outfit actually got a guy to step off a bus and offer a "damn girl, daaaamn!" when we were shooting keep that in mind if you're looking for an outfit to make someone take notice! (Ps. I was dying....I'm sure there were some photos in there that captured my crazy laugh after that happened.)

So what do you think? Do you have pieces in your closet that make for easy day-to-night dressing? And let me know if you like these posts showing different ways to style a specific piece....would love your feedback!

Wishing you a fabulous week!
