For the Stylish Guy - Getting Groomed with Frank's Denver
I love me a handsome bearded man....so lucky for me, my hubs is both bearded and really ridiculously good looking. (Side note: He actually started growing facial hair at my request shortly after our wedding 16 years ago now, can you believe it? Yeah I really can't....I still like to think I'm 29 most of the time). Plus, he's a sharp dresser and just all around well-groomed, which is bonus points too. So when a friend told me about the new Frank's Gentleman's Salon here in Denver (2111 Larimer St to be exact) and asked Jason to try out some services there, we both jumped at the chance. He was happy to try out some cool guy-focused services and I was happy to see him get all relaxed and pampered since he works really hard and can use a little unwinding every now and then.
So let's start with first impressions..... when we arrived at the salon (being as style and aesthetics focused as I am), I noticed right away the cool clean logo and design of the salon front. Upon entering, we found that the clean, crisp, masculine design extended throughout the salon, from the wood floors and exposed brick to the cool color tones, from the awesome "man cave" waiting area to the sandwich board sign in the window that states "Keep calm and stay handsome." It's pretty much the perfect guy getaway in the heart of downtown Denver.
The best part is that Frank's isn't just a typical barbershop that only offers haircuts and beard grooming. Yes they do offer haircuts, color, scalp massage, straight-razor shaves and beard trims, but the cool thing (and what sets them apart from other men's salons and barbershops) is their extensive service menu, which includes everything from men's manis and pedis to facials, waxing and even shoe shines...it's basically a one-stop shop for all things guy-grooming. And if your man wants a little bourbon, whiskey, scotch or tequila while he's there (or soda or coffee), he's in luck as they can pour any of the above. In addition they are available to host men's events such as groomsman's parties (cool idea right?). Plus their prices are affordable and they have memberships available which include perks like guest passes for buddies, retail discounts, complimentary shoe shines and at least 20% savings on individual services. You can learn more about their services and memberships by checking out their full site here (www.franksdenver.com).
All of the stylists we met at Franks were a pleasure (thanks Molly and Jessica for making us feel welcome and for treating Jason to a great experience!) and the products they used smell great (I can totally vouch for that....is it weird that I kept smelling his beard??). And as an extra special gift, Jason even got a fun swag bag to take home filled with product samples, beer koozies and a highball glass with the Frank's mustache logo, which I know he'll be using for a cocktail soon.
Of course, I had to let Jason give his personal input as he's the one who actually experienced the services.... so here it is right from the (well-groomed) horse's mouth:
"I have had a full beard for about two years now, and during that time I had never really thought about getting it professionally groomed. I have kept my beard reasonably well-groomed using beard trimmers, and to be honest, the idea of going somewhere specifically for my beard seemed a little too hipster for my liking. Well I can honestly say that going to Frank's was a great decision. This is a very masculine salon with really cool vibe that any guy would like. My stylist Jessica made me feel right at home, offered me a drink, and then got to business. She started off by shaping my beard back to a more tailored look, then washed my beard and gave me this amazing treatment with beard oil. Next was a hot towel for my face and neck, followed by straight blade shave of my neck. The whole experience was fantastic, and I left looking good, smelling great, and feeling like a million bucks."
Needless to say, we'd both highly recommend Frank's for the man in your life (think hubs, boyfriend, brother, dad, guy friend etc). I personally think a Frank's gift certificate or surprise visit would make a fab Father's Day gift (which happens to be coming up next month so get on it girls!). So if you have a chance, go check out Frank's (or send your guy to try it) and let me know what you think!
