Blazing a Style Trail - How to Style a Long Blazer Two Ways

Blazers….yes they are everywhere now and they’re not just for businessmen and women anymore. I’ll be honest, when I think of blazers my first thoughts are “business” and “preppy,” neither of which are my go-to-styles. BUT (yes there’s a but), I’ve been seeing bloggers and style-makers galore jumping on the blazer train lately and I didn’t want to be left in the style dust so of course I had to get myself a cute (but not too preppy) blazer too! And in my eyes, this & Other Stories blazer dress is nothing short of perfect. Reasons I love it:

  1. It’s a dress….need I say more? I always love a cute mini.

  2. This color….giving me all the heart eyes and is one of my all-time favorite shades.

  3. The double-breasted style….on-trend but still classic at the same time.

  4. The length… that it is long enough to be a dress on its own, but can also be styled as a more traditional (but longer and more dramatic) blazer jacket.

  5. The versatility… in point, the above. Plus it can be dressed up or down, depending on your mood and styling.

So all that to say, in my book it’s the perfect blazer and I was excited to show you all a couple different ways to style it!

First, let’s go with the dress version (because honestly that’s probably my fave and how I will wear most). What I love about this look is that it’s a chic and timeless silhouette, but is still a little edgy with a definite fashion-forward feel. (On a side note, if I ever go to NYFW, this dress is going with me because I feel like it has that NY street style vibe, and I love it!) I chose to style it with a similar color bag for a monochromatic look and then added leopard booties and some amazing locally-made rose gold earrings from Canned Goods (an incredible brand that not only makes “tin-can glam”, but gives a can of food for every piece of jewelry purchased) to complete the outfit. I was going for chic and feminine with a little edge, which is my absolute favorite kind of style (and the one my blog name “peach & pepper” really personifies). I love how these colors all go together so well and how additions of metallic or animal print really make a look pop. I think you could also do a great tall slouchy boot in cream or black (or even a snakeskin print if you’re going really fashion-forward) with this dress and it would be really amazing as well!

Second, I wanted to style a little more casually and wear as a traditional blazer. So for this I paired the blazer with a basic white v-neck tee, my new Mother Denim high-waisted raw-hem jeans (from local boutique Melrose & Madison) silver pumps and silver earrings from Canned Goods (again I do love the metallic accents). I think this is the perfect date night or happy hour look and might even work for a casual business meeting. And while I went with silver, I think this outfit would look equally as good with a gold or animal print heel or a fun sneaker for an even more dressed-down vibe.

I truly love both of these looks and can’t wait to wear them all fall long! I’ve linked this exact blazer above and will also include a few other great blazer options in the shopping carousel below.

So what do you all think? Are you on the blazer bandwagon and, if so, what’s your go-to way to style?
